Brevard Children's Business Fair: 5 Spring Break Hobbies

Spring break is just around the corner this March, and while we all love a little extra sleep and sunshine, it’s also the perfect time for a "beta test."
If your child has been thinking about joining the Brevard Children's Business Fair in November, one week of freedom is exactly what they need to move from "I have an idea" to "I have a product." Testing a hobby now gives them plenty of time to pivot, polish, and prepare for the big event later this year.

Here are five fun hobbies that can easily transform into a kid-owned business:
1. Jewelry & Accessory Making
Whether it’s trendy clay bead necklaces or rugged paracord bracelets, handmade accessories are always a hit. Spring break is a great time to experiment with different styles to see which ones people actually want to wear.
2. Pet Services & Treats
Brevard County loves its furry friends! Your child could offer dog walking services or spend the week perfecting a recipe for organic, homemade dog treats. It’s a low-cost way to learn about service-based businesses.
3. Digital Art & Design
If your teen or tween is always on their tablet, they can turn those doodles into dollars. Designing custom stickers or unique bookmarks is a fantastic way to enter the world of digital products. Plus, they are easy to transport and display!
4. Baking the "Signature" Item
Instead of trying to bake everything, have your child focus on one signature item—like the world’s best chocolate chip cookie or a unique lemon bar. Use the week to refine the recipe and get feedback from the toughest critics: friends and neighbors.
5. Garden Helper "Desk Buddies"
With spring in the air, everyone is looking for a bit of green. Your child can start seedlings in small, hand-painted pots and market them as "desk buddies." They are adorable, eco-friendly, and make great gifts.
